About Us

Central European Institute of Technology - University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno (CEITEC VFU) is an independent institute at the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences that was established within the framework of the CEITEC - Central European Institute of Technology. CEITEC includes the leading Brno universities and two research institutes that joined forces in order to establish a centre of scientific excellence. The Director of the CEITEC VFU is prof. MVDr. Jiří Smola, CSc.

University of Veterinary Sciences Brno was founded as a Veterinary University in December 1918 as the first new University of the Czechoslovak State. Its conception and organization of teaching followed the Veterinary University in Vienna. The school consists of three faculties, which together total 28 institutes and 6 clinics.
