Ondrej Slaby Was Appointed as New Government Representative for Science and Research in Healthcare

On 12 October 2020, the Czech Government appointed Ondrej Slaby as the Government Representative for Science and Research in Health Care. The first Representative for Science and Research in Health Care was Roman Prymula, whom the government appointed on 25 May 2020. Prymula resigned on 21 September 2020 after he was appointed as the Minister of Health. The Representative for Science and Research in Health Care may submit background documents and comment on government materials for meetings that are related to health science and research issues. Among other things, the Representative monitors the activities of the Czech Science Foundation (GACR) and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic (TACR) in terms of the possible involvement of health entities in research projects, as well as cooperates with the Research, Development and Innovation Council, and with foreign institutions.
Ondrej Slaby
Oncologist Ondrej Slaby leads the Research Group of Molecular Oncology at CEITEC Masaryk University (MU), and serves as Head of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Medicine (MU), and is a lecturer of Molecular Medicine at the 1st Faculty of Medicine at Charles University. He is Deputy Head of the Institute of Pathology of the Faculty of Medicine (MU) and the Faculty Hospital in Brno. He has postgraduate certification in Clinical Genetics and has published over 150 scientific papers, which have more than 3,500 citations. In the past, he won the Minister of Health Award for Health Research twice. In his spare time, he writes poems and pursues photography.
